Nursing Home Aid Jailed for Beating Resident
In Lufkin, TX a nursing home employee was arrested on Wednesday for alleged abuse of an elderly resident. 43-year-old Sherree Denise Jones worked at Grace Care Center Nursing Home as a certified nurse aid when the alleged incident occurred on August 21st.
She had taken an 83-year-old woman into the shower room when two other certified nurse aids said that they heard crying from the elderly woman and head her telling Davis to stop hitting her the report stated. The two witnesses stated that they heard Davis slap the elderly woman five times and when they rushed to see what happened they saw the elderly woman extremely red and they saw Davis pulling her hair causing her extreme pain. She was also reported pulling on the elderly woman’s ear and the victim had a knot on her head. The administrator at Grace Care Center Nursing Home notified Lufkin Police Department immediately of the incident and filed a report with the state agency that monitors nursing homes. The resident who suffered the injuries is doing fine, and Davis is currently in Angelina County Jail.
