Florida Man Faces Lawsuit For Unlicensed Practice

According to Newyourkinjurynews.com, a Florida woman has filed a lawsuit against a man claiming to be a doctor after she suffered burns to her underarms following inferior laser hair removal treatment. According to the report, 22-year-old Monica Jimenez is suing Larry DeJesus after she suffered second and third-degree burns from the treatment

The report states that DeJesus falsely identified himself as a licensed doctor and performed the botched treatment on Jimenez. Jimenez also filed a complaint with the State Department of Health when the burn wounds she suffered got worse. Jimenez is suing for an unspecified amount in damages.

This is not the first incident of a person putting their safety in the hands of a person they believe is a licensed doctor and undergoing procedures that could cause extremely serious injury. For that reason, it is always important to ensure that any procedure you are undergoing is being performed by a fully licensed doctor. Many procedures could potentially cause a fatality if the person performing the procedure is untrained in the process. Medical procedures often carry a significant risk of injury to begin with, nobody should ever have to face increased risk of serious injury or fatality resulting from negligence from an unlicensed medical practitioner.
